Pyrotherm & Pyrotex Double Layer Firesleeve Installation Tutorial
STEP 1: Required Tools
STEP 1 : REQUIRED TOOLS
- Pyrotherm HW Sleeving
- Pyrotex Firesleeve
- Pyrotex SA Tape
- Electrical Tape
- Scissors
- Hose Assembly
STEP 2: SLEEVE ASSEMBLY WITH PYROTHERM HW
STEP 2 : SLEEVE ASSEMBLY WITH PYROTHERM HW HEAVYWALL
Slide Pyrotherm HW over one end of hose assembly and along the hose length until sleeve end reaches the opposite hose end. Cap hose ends to prevent intrusion of glass fibers. Terminate ends of metal braided hose to prevent snagging of insulation.
STEP 3: TAPE OFF PYROTHERM HW END
STEP 3 : TAPE OFF PYROTHERM HW HEAVYWALL END
Once hose length is fully sleeved with Pyrotherm HW, tightly tape off sleeving past hose end and cut at tape.
STEP 4: SLEEVE ASSEMBLY WITH PYROTEX FIRESLEEVE
STEP 4 : SLEEVE ASSEMBLY WITH PYROTEX FIRESLEEVE
Cut Pyrotex Firesleeve to required length. Slide Pyrotex Firesleeve end over taped end of Pyrotherm HW. Pyrotex Firesleeve should not fit too tightly- use a larger ID sleeve if so. This will make installation difficult and can compromise insulating performance.
STEP 5 : TRIM HW BASE LAYER TO LENGTH
Once completely firesleeved, cut Pyrotherm HW base layer with scissors along the end of Pyrotex Firesleeve top layer. Be careful if using a rubber hose.
STEP 6 : FINISH SLEEVE ENDS WITH PYROTEX SA TAPE
Cut SA Tape to length and remove film backer. Stretch tape and wrap using a 50% overlap. Wrap tape up past sleeve ends to hose fitting and squeeze tape to seal.
